Dressing To Enhance Your Portrait

Planning your portrait is the key to success. Careful thought should go into how you want to be photographed. Linda will capture you in an artistic and flattering way to make your portrait beautiful and unique.

Here are a few suggestions for your portrait experience.

  • Cover up blemishes as much as possible.

  • Apply makeup a bit heavier, not brighter, to even out skin tones.

  • Bring a few outfit choices.

  • Coordinate clothing from head to toe for full length photographs.

  • Footwear and socks should compliment the entire wardrobe. Large white sneakers are not recommended because they can dominate the photograph.

  • Barefoot is a good alternative in the summer, particularly outside. Young children photograph especially well when barefoot.

  • Long sleeves, solids, and very subtle prints are generally best.

  • Avoid large, bold clothing patterns that draw attention away from the face, which is the focal point of your photograph.

  • The background should compliment the foreground. Medium to dark colors are best for a dark background.

  • Medium to light clothes are best for a light background.

  • Trendy clothes will date a photograph. It is best to stick with traditional clothing that is timeless. Good examples are khakis or jeans and a white shirt or traditional sweater.

  • Necklines are important.  A v-neck or scoop neck is best if your neck is short and your face is full.  A turtle neck or high neck is best if you have a long neck and a slender face.

  • For family or group portraits, choose a color theme that blends well to coordinate the look of your portraits. Avoid busy patterns and contrasting colors. Everyone's clothing does not have to match but the colors should be harmonious. Coordinate clothing so that one person will not dominate the scene.  Dress everyone in the same style clothing. Do not mix casual and formal attire.

     Pricing

A portrait session generally lasts one hour and fees are based on the hour. During a session, there is no limit on the number of images recorded.  Sessions can be inside or outside at the Huddle Images studio. We have a beautiful outdoor studio specifically landscaped for brilliant portraits.

Linda is very careful to leave time for children to take a break or have a snack in order to facilitate a successful session.

Family groups generally chose to do the whole group and then do breakdowns of individual families.

Linda can travel to your home, to a park or to the beach. Pricing for traveling sessions differ from studio portrait sessions.
